EASTER MESSAGE from Bishop Tony – We are an Easter people and Alleluia is our song!

To the members of The Community of All Saints

Springtime is lush with rebirth, new beginnings, and new growth. Our Lenten journey ends on Good Friday; we move from death to life. We are gifted with the hope that resurrection brings. Jesus was given back on Easter day, to give us courage to follow him; to risk ourselves, our reputations, even our lives, to demonstrate the radical goodness of God’s love for us. There is our hope. 40 days of Lent but 50 days of Easter! We are an Easter people and ‘Alleluia’ is our song.

Jesus was given back on Easter day, to give us courage to follow him; to risk ourselves, our reputations, even our lives, to demonstrate the radical goodness of God’s love for us. There is our hope.

May this hope compel us to move from a culture of violence to a culture of life in our society. Too often, however, we want to race to the Easter Resurrection without fully embracing the Lenten process that leads there. Lent reflects the forty days that Jesus wandered in the wilderness — tempted by Satan — in readiness for a ministry destined to end in tragedy. Few of us can relate to the level of sacrifice and commitment that Jesus displayed in his forty days, yet Lent has provided us with an opportunity to deepen our spirituality by engaging in regular discipline from Ash Wednesday through Easter Sunday. The wilderness — the desert days of Lent — is the true path toward spiritual transformation.

HAPPY EASTER!
